Veterans Day

Special thanks to Bob Kline, Bob Farnsworth, Tom Aunan, Dave Bousfield, Ed Saehler, Ann Bristol, Paul McNally and the band students, who generously volunteered their time and talents to lead this Veterans Day assembly at Lemme Elementary School.

The assembly honored and recognized the family members of students who have served or are currently serving in the United States military. Students were invited to bring photographs of their relatives, which were displayed and recognized during the program.

Throughout the assembly, students learned about proper American flag etiquette, as well as the history and significance of “Taps.” One of the highlights of the program was a moving performance of “Taps” by a fifth- or sixth-grade trumpet player.

The assembly concluded with students lining up to shake each veteran’s hand, look them in the eye, and sincerely say, “Thank you for your service.” Veterans then accompanied their students to their classrooms, providing a meaningful conclusion to the day’s tribute.

Honored for their service and included in this painting: US Army West Point graduates Captain Ben and Captain Jennie Wunderlich, Kathleen Coen Buckwalter, LtJG, USN, Army National Guard Medical Corp veteran Bob Kline, the POW/MIA chair of honor.
